Partners in Estonia

Kinobuss Estland is a non-profit independent film organization since 2001. Kinobuss project works against the trend of extinction of travelling cinemas and monopolized film distribution politics.

As a regularly travelling cinema, Kinobuss drives around Estonia – cinema in demand - screening local films and world cinema in local culture centres. Kinobuss also has a very important role providing audiovisual education: organizing film and animation workshops, introducing and improving the knowledge of film culture and teaching film-language to young people and teachers. All Kinobuss projects combine film with different social and/or educational output (“Kinobuss in Orphanages”, “Kinobuss against Drugs” etc).

The annual event is the traditional every summer film tour around Estonia called “Kinobuss is coming”. For further information please see www.kinobuss.ee

Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (BNFF)/ Tallinna Pimedate Ööde Filmifestival from Tallinn/Estonia is a unique event combining a feature film festival with the sub-festivals of animated films, student films and children/youth films. The festival aims to present a comprehensive selection of world cinema to Estonian audiences, providing a friendly atmosphere for interaction between the audience, Estonian filmmakers and their foreign colleagues. In ten years, BNFF has expanded into 2+ weeks of celebrating cinema where around 500 films from 60 countries are presented to nearly 50000 viewers. For more information, please see www.poff.ee

The Center for Applied Ecology (CAE)/ Rakendusökoloogia Keskus from Sillamäe/ Estonia was founded in 1997 by scientists from Estonia and Germany. CAEs main goals are the dissemination of knowledge about environmental protection and environmental education. Since 2000 CAE is taking part in the “Gulf of Finland days” together with partners and friends from Finland and Russia, with events almost every year. The CAE centre is based in Sillamäe Ida-Virumaa county in the north eastern part of Estonia. In these towns lives a Russian majority. This is why CAE is working mainly in direction to the Russian speaking population in Estonia. Presently, CAEs main topics are energy, organic farming and the protection of the Baltic Sea.
