The Riga festival stop promised to be nice to an eye and rich in party impressions. And that’s exactly how it was in reality, which though turned out to be surprisingly sketchy. Maybe because of the 3 different locations where the events took place or because of the necessity to combine participation in festival with watches on Lovis and at the info center… In short - an integral picture has failed. Therefore I just share an emotion which is more vivid.
Unexpectedly successful for me was the screening of the Latvian “Dream land” film on Friday evening, which was shown right after the festival competition program «Stories from the seaside». It was really perfect time and place for viewing film about brutal trash reality! Overcrowded dance floor pushed out excited heads to contemplation of something completely different from what they expected to see, and waves of a tart smell of rotten vegetables from the near by market were an ideal special effect, which was meant to convince us of reality of an event. Contrast of perception was maximal!
