Zeiman

Friday night. Zeiman’s club. Cross the bridge from Dluga Street, take a left into the ruins, steer around the puddles or jump them or swim them, pass by the old storage halls with threatening barks coming out of them (please don’t ever release that dog!) and take another right next to the beautiful old ship Helena (it has seen better times). Enter the Zeiman Club, a traditional old place for sailors, or so it seems. I missed the history of the place, but the owner, in any case, is more than an original. Our Polish partners organized a party for Moving Baltic Sea and friends, beginning with Schmalz and bread and beer… we were here the night before for a hearty welcome dinner and heartfelt welcome evening (thanks! thanks! thanks! it was wonderful!) And the day before, the owner of Zeiman took to the mic and announced the seaman’s competitions for Friday. Personally, I didn’t take this talk of hammering nails into logs, tug-o-wars and other seaman’s games too seriously, but man… this guy was serious! So… girls against girls, guys against guys. The Lovis team did pretty well in the tug-o-war, Moviemiento totally lost it (fitness center on Monday, guys!!!) but whatever…nobody really knows who won in most cases, but the club was in uproar. The grand finale: a big pole which heaved down from some hidden place in the ceiling, on which the two fighters had to balance and bash each other with pillows. So if sailing on the Lovis did not make a seaman out of you: the Zeiman club will!
